Sobbayi Interactive unveils new Photo Service
2007-06-22

It’s been two to three months since the last update here. It has not been because of untimely vacations or sorts. Sobbayi Interactive has been working on the new Digital Photo Service for the past few months if not a year (No one seems to remember).

This is a service that is to evolve around an initial Five Phase Development Cycle. Again no one seems to know what will pop-up in the next phases other than phase one, which went live this week.

The service we are talking about here is a service that will allow subscribers to download photos for a period of time depending on their choice of subscription.

The concept here is rather simple. Steve had quite a collection of digital photographs taken from various regions in Kenya over a period of time. After much coercion Steve was convince to post them up on the Internet. One thing led to another and ScenicEastAfrica.com was born.

Well basically the site is intended to host original and unique photos of animals, landscapes, nature themes, people, historic sites and a whole lots more of other stuff related to and from the East African states of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Somewhere down the line the perimeter is also expected to expand to Rwanda and Burundi. Possibly Ethiopia, Egypt and other geographically East African Nations.

These photos will be available for download by Subscribed Members.

The Entire Site Interface is designed in Grayscale. There was no real intention for this at the beginning only that one of Steve’s favorite colors is gray. Another reason that came up for this was to distinguish downloadable from other graphics on the interface. You can therefore figure out that the downloadable graphics are in full color where applicable.

In addition to providing photos, the site has also got a journal page giving stories behind selected photos in the collection. It covers information on circumstances as to how certain photos where stumbled upon or the reason why other where taken. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Here the words have been added to the pictures.

ScenicEastAfrica.com also provides demographic and geographic information about the countries where pictures are featured. Rumors have it that this will evolve into something bigger in the later development phases.

Another feature included into the Service is not just another Feedback form. This form is categorized. Now one of the categories allows the users to request for new feature to be added to the system. It also has a bug-tracking feature where you can report all bugs encountered and track the corrective action taken.

We were unable to list the other features here as those features will appear in other phases and therefore they will be made public as time draws nearer.
